Renowned Nigerian producer Wale Adenuga has responded to claims of financial hardship made by veteran actor Abiodun Ayoyinka, best known for his role in the iconic TV comedy Papa Ajasco and Company, insisting that the actor has enjoyed significant support and benefits over the years.
In an official statement from Wale Adenuga Productions, the company countered Ayoyinka’s recent public declaration that he is struggling financially, revealing that the actor was once gifted a car alongside another colleague and has reportedly used no less than five different vehicles including a Mercedes-Benz during his time with the production house.
The company also claimed that to the best of their knowledge, Ayoyinka owns a house in Ogun State, raising questions about the basis of his claims of financial difficulty.
Going further, Wale Adenuga Productions pointed to Ayoyinka’s career as a civil servant with the Lagos State Government, where he reportedly served for over 30 years. The company questioned what became of his retirement gratuities and investments accumulated during that lengthy career, suggesting that the actor had multiple sources of income beyond his work on the comedy series.
The statement also addressed the issue of exclusivity, clarifying that artistes working with the brand have never been restricted from pursuing other income opportunities. According to the company, recording for the long-running comedy series typically takes only about six weeks in a year, leaving the rest of the year free for cast members to take on other projects and ventures.
