A senior U.S. lawmaker has warned that the escalating conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran may be spiraling beyond Washington’s control, raising fears of a wider regional crisis.
In a strongly worded post on his verified social media account, Chris Murphy criticized the leadership of Donald Trump, arguing that the administration underestimated Iran’s capacity to retaliate after the war began.
“It’s crystal clear now that Trump has lost control of this war,” Murphy wrote. “He badly misjudged Iran’s ability to retaliate. The region is on fire.”
Murphy said he plans to reveal further insights about the evolving situation in a detailed online thread, noting that some of the information comes from classified briefings given to lawmakers behind closed doors.
