I Grew Up In Deep Poverty And Knew That If I Remained In Ghana, I Would Die A Poor Person -Ria Abdul

Ria Abdul told Chude that although she was already on Metro TV in Ghana, she still lived in serious poverty and could barely survive on her salary. She said she was earning about 600 Ghanaian cedis at the time even while presenting on one of the country’s biggest networks.

She explained that her fear of remaining poor pushed her to take the huge risk of leaving Ghana, selling her belongings, and moving to Nigeria with no firm job offer.

Ria said her story in Nigeria began with sleeping on floors and balloon beds, depending on the kindness of people she barely knew, and getting her first employment at News Central TV through the recommendation of media figure IK Osakioduwa.

Ria Abdul said: “I was very scared, but I grew up in deep poverty and I knew that if I remained in Ghana, I would die a poor person. Even when I was working at Metro TV, I was still poor. I was taking about 600 cedis then. I didn’t know anybody in Nigeria. People who know me will tell you I used to sleep on the floor, on a balloon bed. It was just one push to another. God blessed me with people like IK Osakioduwa who helped me get my first job at News Central TV.”…..See More
