For The First Time We’ve A Leader Who Controls Two Parties And He’s Approved By The President—Momodu

Dele Momodu, a prominent chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has voiced concerns over what he describes as the expanding influence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across Nigeria’s political landscape.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Momodu expressed alarm at the ruling party’s consolidation of power and its effect on opposition parties.

Momodu contended that the APC has leveraged its position to dominate other political platforms, asserting, “The reason you are saying this is because APC was already comfortably seated. Hijacked as many as possible in the other parties to their own party. They have all the resources in the world, they have all the security in the world. They have control even of INEC when I say control of INEC the INEC is appointed by the government.”

The ADC chieftain highlighted concerns over the impartiality of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), suggesting that the commission’s leadership, appointed by the federal government, could favor the ruling party in its management of elections. He implied that this centralization of power creates an uneven playing field, making it increasingly difficult for opposition parties to compete effectively.

Momodu further criticized the timing and intensity of the APC’s political activities. According to him, the ruling party began campaign operations well ahead of the official election period, giving them a distinct advantage over other parties. “So and they have jumped the gun. They started campaigning more than a year ago. You will not say you are not aware that recklessly even a minister left his job and traveled to his own state. I’m sure for a week or two weeks. And was running a campaign as if election will be next month,” he stated.

He argued that these preemptive moves illustrate a level of political dominance that undermines democratic competition. By consolidating influence within multiple parties, the ruling APC, according to Momodu, effectively controls the political narrative and resources across Nigeria. This, he warned, leaves opposition parties struggling to maintain visibility and credibility among the electorate.

Momodu also pointed out that such a concentration of political power, combined with federal approval, threatens the independence of institutions meant to ensure fairness and transparency. He suggested that without reforms or active checks, the political environment would increasingly favor a single party, diminishing accountability and citizen representation….See More
