Bwala took to his official X handle to assert that the timing and nature of recent critical reports are a coordinated effort to undermine the country’s economic progress.

“The western fake news media, probably sponsored by foreign interests, have begun their fake news propaganda campaign against Nigeria,” Bwala stated. He contended that the objective of this alleged campaign is to portray Nigeria as an unfriendly destination for business, directly contradicting the administration’s narrative that the nation is rapidly becoming a hub for global investors.

The presidential aide insinuated a political motive behind the negative coverage, linking it to the international travels of opposition figures. “Is it a coincidence that this is happening after a known politician visited the US?” he questioned. Although he did not mention a specific name, the remark is widely interpreted as a reference to Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, who recently visited the United States.

Vowing a robust response, Bwala declared that the administration would not remain passive. “We would take the media fight back to them in their western fake news media outlets,” he asserted.
