A report by Nigerian Tribune states that the head of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has unveiled a mosque he constructed in honour of Mrs. Abibatu Mogaji, the late mother of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The mosque was officially opened on Saturday, February 14, 2026, as part of the cleric’s yearly thanksgiving service held in Oke-Afa, Lagos State. The ceremony attracted a wide range of notable figures, including representatives from religious bodies, political leaders, traditional rulers, and members of the entertainment industry.
During his address at the gathering, Ayodele explained that the project was carried out in response to what he described as a divine instruction. He emphasized that he would not be involved in running the mosque, noting that its administration would be entrusted to a Muslim cleric.
Responding to public opinions about his perceived relationship with President Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the cleric dismissed claims of hostility. He remarked that some people view him as being critical of Tinubu or the ruling party, which he suggested might be why Governor Sanwo-Olu did not acknowledge their invitation to the event. However, he said this did not concern him.
Ayodele further clarified that dedicating the mosque to the president’s mother was not influenced by politics but was based solely on what he believes to be God’s direction.
