Body Of Benchers Should Be Proud Of Their Perennially—Odinkalu On Wike Saying He’ll Break Stadium

‎In a recent statement via his official X account, Chidi Anselm Odinkalu has criticized Nigeria’s Body of Benchers over recent controversial threats made by a FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

‎”Nigeria’s Body of Benchers should be very proud of their perennially #DrunkenLifeBencher!” he wrote.

‎In his post, the legal scholar questioned the silence of the body responsible for regulating professional conduct within the legal profession, especially in matters involving public statements that could incite disorder.

‎Odinkalu reacted after Wike stated that violence at a public stadium could occur without consequences if government prevent further access.

‎In his response, Odinkalu argued that institutions charged with upholding ethics should not remain passive when influential figures make reckless statements.

He said the Body of Benchers exists to protect the integrity of the legal profession and should act promptly when conduct falls below acceptable standards.

‎According to him, failure to respond sends a dangerous signal that powerful individuals are above accountability.
