Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and legal practitioner has taken to his official X handle to react after it was announced that a large number of students made first class from the law faculty in University of Ibadan, Oyo State. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he dragged INEC into the conversation.
The news regarding the impressive number of students of the law faculty of the University of Ibadan that made first class generated mixed reactions after the reports went viral across various social media platforms.
The students, totalling fifty eight out of one hundred and forty six students, acquired the highest scores, a result which sparked massive public reactions, including from Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and lawyer.
Reacting, Chidi Odinkalu, according to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, however, dragged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) into the conversation.
According to his statements, he pointed out that the number of students who achieved the remarkable feat was impossible, arguing that the class was not littered with geniuses.
The statements from the former chairman of the national human rights commission while sarcastic, underscores the decline in respected accorded to the institution tasked with providing a credible and transparent election.
