1967: Taiwo’s Son Said His Dad Told His Mom”I Don’t Deserve To Live Due To What We Did In Asaba”—Eze

Chuck Nduka-Eze, the Isama Ajie of Asaba, has stated that Col. Ibrahim Taiwo was a member of the Nigerian army division that carried out the Asaba Massacre during the Nigerian Civil War

In an interview with Arise TV on Sunday, May 17, 2026, Eze said Col Taiwo’s son once told him that his father was deeply troubled and always sad after the Civil War ended

Eze stated that Taiwo’s son also told him that his father said he did not deserve to live because of what he and other soldiers did in Asaba during the civil war

In Eze’s words: “He shared a very important insight with me, he said post the war his father was consistently and repeatedly morbid, mournful always talking about dying.
