Lere Olayinka, an aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has sparked reactions on social media after criticizing an unnamed individual who he claimed was busy clamouring for prayers for Wike while his own wife is battling cancer at home.
In a post via X, Olayinka’s comment was aimed at drawing attention to what he described as misplaced priorities. He wondered why someone facing such a serious family challenge would rather focus on spreading prayers for Wike, instead of directing that same energy and concern to his wife’s health condition. He also mocked the man for being married to multiple wives yet allegedly showing little care for one who is suffering.
His outburst came in response to ongoing rumours about Wike’s health. In recent days, stories circulated online suggesting that the FCT Minister was critically ill. Wike, however, debunked the reports, explaining that he only took some time off to rest. He further stressed that those spreading false news or wishing him dead would end up having him sign their condolence books.
In his words, “Your wife is at home, suffering from CANCER, you are on Social Media shouting Pray for Wike up and down. Who actually needs prayers? You or Wike? But how can a man with SIX wives care for the health of just one?”
