Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and publisher of Ovation Magazine, has criticised the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, questioning the impact of key economic policies introduced since 2023.
Momodu’s remarks were contained in a video shared on the official X handle of Channels Television on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. In the clip, the media entrepreneur expressed concern over the removal of the fuel subsidy and the rising cost of living across the country.
He argued that the government has yet to clearly demonstrate the positive outcomes of the subsidy removal, noting that many Nigerians continue to face economic hardship. According to him, the prices of essential food items have risen sharply, worsening hunger and financial pressure on households.
Momodu said that since President Tinubu assumed office, many policy decisions have had negative consequences for ordinary citizens. He particularly questioned the administration’s borrowing record, alleging that the current government has accumulated more loans than previous Nigerian administrations combined.
“You removed food subsidy from day one and you’ve not been able to tell us how it has affected Nigeria positively,” Momodu said in the video. “You’ve taken more loans than all the governments of Nigeria combined but we have not seen the effect of the loans.”
His comments add to the growing public debate over the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms, especially the subsidy removal policy, which the government has defended as necessary for long-term fiscal stability.
As of the time of reporting, the presidency had not issued an official response to Momodu’s latest criticism…. Discover More
