Yerima: His Unit Commander Would’ve Called Him And Told Him To Stand Down for Wike -Babangida Aliyu

Retired military officer Captain Babangida Aliyu has alleged that the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike should have followed proper military protocol by contacting Lieutenant A.M. Yerima superiors during the confrontation.

Speaking on Nigerian Info FM, Captain Aliyu outlined what he believes would have been the appropriate course of action. “What Wike should have done was to call like four degrees of bosses ahead of this boy. Permit me to use ‘boy’ now, relatively. And his unit commander would have called him and told him to stand down for the minister, and he would have stood down,” he stated.

The retired officer used an analogy to illustrate the importance of respecting the military chain of command. “You don’t come to my house, as I said, and tell my gateman, ‘Open the door.’ My friend, he will just be looking at you. Which begs the understanding of chain of command. If Wike understood it, he wouldn’t have been there,” he explained.

When asked about the likelihood of Lieutenant Yerima facing punishment through the established military probe panel, Captain Aliyu expressed skepticism based on his own experience. “I don’t think he will. As I learned, a probe panel has been set. That is left to be seen. I don’t know. But I’m confident because I went through the same experience,” he said.
