In a recent video on YouTube, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has offered an in-depth teaching on the nature of curses, describing them as unseen spiritual forces that obstruct progress and lead to repeated failure.
During a Sunday Bible study session, Adeboye revisited a topic he said he had previously discussed, emphasizing its relevance to believers seeking spiritual understanding. “At one time or the other, I must have discussed what a curse is with you,” he said. “But since we’re having a real Bible study this Sunday, we might as well go back and talk a little bit about what a curse is.”
According to him, a curse is not merely a word spoken in anger but a spiritual power designed to bring destruction. “A curse is an unseen force that hinders progress, that causes efforts to fail, with the sole aim of the destruction of the victim,” Adeboye explained.
He noted that people under such conditions often find themselves trapped in cycles of near-success and disappointment. “You know someone is under a curse when he is almost succeeding but never succeeds,” he stated.
The cleric further illustrated the point with practical examples. “When he tries what everybody has been doing and they are prospering, but he ends up in heavy debt, that’s a sign,” Adeboye said, stressing that spiritual forces can influence material outcomes.
