When we deliver on projects, we call our people to showcase what we have done – Siminalayi Fubara

According to the report from SYMFONI TV, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially commissioned the Egbeda–Omerelu Link Road spanning Emohua and Ikwerre Local Government Areas, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to service-oriented leadership and transparent project delivery.

During the event, a speaker reflected on the traditional expectations of governance across African communities, noting that leaders often highlight completed projects to their people. He stated, “So in Africa, what we do is when we deliver on projects, we call our people to showcase what we’ve done.”

He went further to address the broader essence of public leadership, posing a fundamental question: “Then in the sense of it, what is the purpose of governance? Governance is to provide services to the people.”

Explaining the administration’s decision to publicly present its achievements, he added that transparency was necessary for citizens to appreciate ongoing progress. According to him, “We decided to do this because we know where we’re coming from. And if we don’t come out and tell people that this is our story, I believe a lot of people won’t even know that we have something to show. And that is just the reason why.”

The commissioning of the Egbeda–Omerelu Link Road marks another milestone in the state’s infrastructure drive, aimed at improving connectivity, easing transportation challenges, and supporting economic activity across the affected local government areas.
