What Happens to Oko-Jumbo & the Others; I Don’t Think They Should Leave the Rivers Assembly– Epelle

Human rights advocate, Jake Epelle, has shared his thoughts on the recent political events in Rivers State, following the return of Governor Siminalayi Fubara to office after the lifting of the emergency rule.

Speaking during an interview with News Central TV, Epelle reacted to the sack of all the Commissioners by the Governor and also spoke about the lawmakers who stood by Fubara during the political crisis.

Epelle particularly mentioned Victor Oko-Jumbo and three other lawmakers who were loyal to Fubara during the turbulent period. He appealed that they should not be removed from the Rivers State House of Assembly, noting that they had played their part in helping to stabilize the government during difficult times.

“What happens to Victor Oko-Jumbo and the other three? I think they should not be touched. I don’t think they should leave the legislative Assembly. They have served their time and purpose, and they shouldn’t be witch-hunted,” he said.

According to Epelle, the recent court judgment made it clear that Martins Amaewhule is now recognized as the Speaker of the Assembly. He urged all parties to accept this and move forward without further division.

Speaking about the sacked Commissioners, Epelle explained that politics often involves behind-the-scenes negotiations.
