We Owe The U.S. No Clarification On Our Domestic Governance — Bashir Quoting Trump

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has firmly stated that Nigeria’s sovereignty is non-negotiable, stressing that the country does not owe the United States or any foreign power an explanation for how it manages its internal affairs.

The statement came in response to recent remarks by American officials concerning governance and human rights issues in Nigeria.

During the Forum’s 25th-anniversary celebration, ACF leaders reaffirmed that Nigeria is a fully independent nation capable of handling its domestic matters without outside interference.

“We do not owe the United States any explanation as to how we run our domestic affairs,” said Bashir Dalhatu, drawing loud applause from the audience.

The ACF emphasized that while global cooperation is important, no foreign country has the authority to dictate Nigeria’s governance or law enforcement.

They criticized Western nations, especially the U.S., for often ignoring their own internal challenges while lecturing African countries.

“We welcome friendship and cooperation, but not lectures,” the Forum declared, urging Nigerian leaders to prioritize national interests over foreign approval.

They added that African countries must reject what they described as “selective moral policing” from the West.

According to the ACF, Nigeria’s progress should be measured by its own standards and development goals, not by international benchmarks that fail to capture local realities.

The group called on the government to strengthen institutions, uphold sovereignty, and ensure that international partnerships serve Nigeria’s best interests.

“Nigeria must define her destiny on her own terms,” the Forum concluded, stressing that true progress begins when a nation stops seeking validation from others and believes in its own vision.
