In a recent interview shared by Member, Board of Trustees of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, the outspoken political figure delivered a sharp critique of the government’s handling of insecurity across the country. Galadima expressed deep concern over what he described as a lack of seriousness and commitment at the highest levels of leadership, especially as Nigeria continues to battle mass abductions, banditry, and rising violence in rural communities.
According to him, the government has failed to prioritize its core responsibility of protecting citizens, instead focusing on political dominance and personal interests. He argued that this misplaced priority has contributed significantly to the worsening insecurity experienced in various parts of the country. “Of course, we are not serious; we are only interested in power to make money or to show you that I have arrived,” he said, stressing that such attitudes have hindered the development of effective security strategies.
Galadima went on to call for a complete overhaul of Nigeria’s security approach, urging leaders to embrace modern technology, intelligence-driven operations, and a renewed sense of duty. He emphasized that the safety of Nigerians should supersede political calculations or rivalries.
He further advised that those in authority must demonstrate sacrifice, discipline, and an unwavering focus on governance. Without this, he warned, the cycle of violence and fear would persist, undermining national stability and the confidence of citizens.
Galadima’s remarks add to growing calls for decisive leadership and meaningful reforms in the country’s security architecture.
