US Military Threat: El-Rufai Said He Traveled Out To Pay Off Fulani Who Are Attacking Nigeria-Ogebe

US-based Nigerian lawyer Emmanuel Ogebe offered sharp criticism of how Nigerian authorities have handled both internal security challenges and external pressure from the United States, speaking on Channels TV in response to recent US military warnings regarding religious violence in Nigeria.

Ogebe highlighted what he described as a pattern of counterproductive security decisions. “The people in Northwest Nigeria invited Lakurawa, a terrorist group, to come into Nigeria and assist them in fighting bandits, only for Lakurawa to come in and become bandits themselves,” he stated.

The lawyer referenced controversial claims made by a former state governor. “El-Rufai, a sitting governor, said that he traveled out of the country to go and pay off the Fulani who are attacking Nigeria,” Ogebe recalled, adding that the outcome was disastrous: “They ended up moving into Nigeria and creating a terrorist syndicate nationwide.”

He also made allegations about former President Muhammadu Buhari’s actions. “Buhari himself brought in Fulani in the hopes of destabilizing the country if he did not win the elections,” Ogebe claimed.

The lawyer expressed frustration with Nigeria’s defensive posture in response to US concerns. “When you look at all that has been done by the other side, it is unfortunate if somebody now comes to you and says, ‘Try and save your own people from being killed,’ and you, as a government who have admitted that these are foreigners who are coming in and killing you, are beginning to tell the person that, ‘No, it’s not just Christians they’re killing—it’s Muslims too,'” he said.

Ogebe concluded by noting the potential economic consequences. “Let me point out something else that it’s very important to note, Trump has said that he may stop aid to Nigeria,” he warned.
