Trump Reacts To Overnight Strikes In Gaza By Israeli Military Amid Ceasefire

According to a report by Reuters on Wednesday 29 October, 2025, President Donald Trump maintained Wednesday that the US-supported ceasefire between Israel and Hamas was still holding, even as Israeli airstrikes continued across Gaza and both sides accused each other of violating the fragile truce.

According to Gaza’s health ministry, more than a hundred people have been killed since Tuesday – including dozens of women and children. Reuters said it couldn’t immediately confirm the figures, though its footage from a local hospital showed bodies of women and young victims being prepared for burial, a grim reminder of the toll.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump acknowledged that the situation was volatile. “As I understand it, they took out an Israeli soldier,” he said. He went on to justify Israel’s response, saying it was natural for them to strike back when attacked. The Israeli military later confirmed that one of its soldiers had been killed earlier.

Still, Trump dismissed the idea that the violence threatened the ceasefire. He doubled down, insisting that “nothing is going to jeopardize” the agreement. The president characterized Hamas as a limited player in the wider Middle East peace effort, adding that the group “needs to behave” if the region hopes to avoid further bloodshed.
