Rivers Crisis: We’re in Charge, Says Wike
Nyesom Wike has declared that he remains firmly in control of Rivers State despite the prolonged political feud with Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Speaking at a civic reception in Ogu, the FCT minister dismissed concerns over the crisis, assuring supporters that the situation was under control and posed no threat to his political influence in the state.
The rift between Wike and Fubara, which began in 2023, has led to legislative confrontations, a six-month suspension of the governor, and a brief period of emergency rule imposed by President Bola Tinubu in 2025. Although the emergency rule was lifted, tensions resurfaced with impeachment threats against Fubara, who later defected to the APC. Wike has since intensified political mobilisation in Rivers, backing Tinubu’s re-election while maintaining pressure on the state government.
My Defection Not About Power – Kefas
Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has said his defection from the PDP to the APC was driven by purpose and the interest of the state, not personal ambition. He described the move as a strategic decision to deepen service delivery and unlock sustainable development for Taraba, insisting he remains committed to the mandate given to him by the people.
Receiving him into the APC, Vice President Kashim Shettima and party chairman Nentawe Yilwatda praised Kefas’ leadership and said his defection positions Taraba to benefit more from federal programmes under President Bola Tinubu. Kefas, in turn, pledged unity, inclusiveness and collaboration, declaring the state open for investment and aligned with the ruling party to fast-track development.

Troops foiled criminal attacks, arrested suspects, and handed them over to police, while military authorities confirmed that security across the theatre remained stable.
