Timi Frank, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, has alleged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is planning to relocate Nigeria’s capital from Abuja to Lagos if he secures a second term in 2027. Frank made the claim in a statement on Monday, accusing the president of running a government that deliberately favours Lagos State at the expense of other regions.
The former APC chieftain described what he called a Lagos-centric agenda under the current administration. He argued that major government decisions, federal appointments, and development initiatives have been structured to benefit one part of the country while other regions are sidelined. Frank warned that the pattern is not accidental but part of a calculated strategy to consolidate political and economic power in Lagos over time.
Frank did not hold back in his criticism of how the administration has handled regional balance. He questioned the absence of meaningful federal investment across other parts of the country, pointing to specific sectors that he believes have been neglected.
“It is now clear that the President’s long-term plan is to concentrate political and economic power in Lagos if given another term in office,” Frank said. “We do not want a president who is one-sided.”
He went further, asking pointed questions about development priorities across the country. “Where are Tinubu’s MOUs tied to agricultural and livestock production in the North, industrial development in the Southeast, and oil and gas development in the South-South? None!” he stated.
Frank also accused the administration of deepening divisions among Nigerians along regional and ethnic lines in a way he said no previous government has done. “There is a growing sense of alienation and division among Nigerians that is deeply troubling,” he said. He described what he believes is a deliberate effort to weaken certain regions economically ahead of the next election cycle. “It appears to be a deliberate strategy to impoverish certain regions, especially the North, South, and Southeast, so that citizens are economically weakened ahead of the 2027 election cycle,” Frank stated….See More
