US President Donald Trump has urged negotiators involved in the Gaza ceasefire talks to act swiftly, warning that any delay could trigger “massive bloodshed.”
Posting on Truth Social late Sunday, Trump stressed, “Time is of the essence, or massive bloodshed will follow — something nobody wants to see.”
According to Jerusalem Post, Trump described the ongoing talks as “very positive,” noting that discussions with Hamas and “countries from all over the world” have shown encouraging progress.
The negotiations aim to secure the release of hostages, end the war in Gaza, and lay the groundwork for what he called “long sought peace in the Middle East.”
According to Trump, the dialogue has been “very successful” and is “proceeding rapidly.”
He said the delegations would meet Monday in Egypt to finalize key details of the agreement, expressing confidence that the “first phase should be completed this week.”
Speaking to reporters, Trump highlighted growing cooperation among regional players, saying, “A lot of the countries surrounding Israel — frankly, Muslim, Arab, many others — have had great meetings with Hamas, and it looks like it’s working. We’ll wait for a little while and see how it all turns out.”
The president’s remarks come amid mounting international pressure to secure a ceasefire that would end nearly a year of devastating conflict since Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack on Israel.
The war has claimed thousands of lives, displaced countless civilians, and intensified global calls for a political solution.
