This’ is going to be the worst INEC.This man has not done four months,he has gone to see Wike -Emma Ogidi

Emma Ogidi, the South-South Caretaker Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a notable personality in the Dr. Kabiru Turaki-led tendency of the party, spoke in an interview with a Vanguard correspondent about the conflicts in the party, INEC, and other issues.

When he was asked what he meant by saying that the problem of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was initially self-inflicted, Emma Ogidi explained that what he meant was that the problem originated from within their own ranks. He stated that, to be truthful, there had always been anti-party politics in the party, but that in the past it had been handled through consensus.

He added that, unlike before, people were now openly declaring their actions by saying, “I am doing this,” which he described as unheard of. He questioned how someone could belong to a political party and still say that the party would not have a presidential candidate.

Further talking, he said, “Again, the truth must be told in this country and the Bible tells us that it is only the truth that can set you free. This is going to be the worst INEC. The other man stayed two tenures before they compensated him with ambassadorial appointment. This man has not even done four months, he has gone to see Wike.”

Continuing his remarks, Emma Ogidi stated that the federal judges who went to see Wike should understand that the houses in question were not built with Wike’s personal money but with Federal Capital funds, which he described as public funds. He said that, as judges, they knew that the money did not belong to Wike but to the government, and that it was tied to the President.

He further explained that there are three arms of government—the legislature, the executive and the judiciary—but argued that the executive had become so powerful because it controls the finances and had marginalised the other two arms of government. He described the situation as unfortunate. He added that proponents of the presidential system of government maintain that there should be checks and balances, but lamented that in the present situation there were no effective checks and balances, describing it as a free fall.
