Actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo said the emerging coalition inside the African Democratic Congress will not fragment and that the ADC will “win outlandishly” in the 2027 elections if allowed to contest freely. He made the prediction on SYMFONI while responding to concerns that bringing together former presidential contenders in one party will inevitably lead to a split over candidacy.
He said people initially dismissed the coalition as “dead on arrival”, but all three major opposing forces from 2023, apart from Tinubu, are now united under one umbrella. Okonkwo argued that if the ruling party is confident of victory, it should leave ADC alone and compete on the field instead of trying to abort the opposition.
He said: “When we were forming the coalition, they said it was dead on arrival. I told them somebody that has not arrived cannot die. We arrived. Today all the three opposing forces in 2022 are now together as one. If they are sure they will not lose, they should leave ADC alone and go and compete in the field. ADC will win.
