According to a report by Daily Post on Thursday, April 2, 2026, media mogul Dele Momodu has alleged that President Bola Tinubu is pursuing a strategy that would position him as the only candidate in the 2027 general elections.
He made the claim while commenting on recent political developments involving the nation’s electoral system and party recognition.
Momodu’s remarks came in response to a decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw recognition from the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) under David Mark.
The electoral body took this step following its interpretation of a recent judgment delivered by the Court of Appeal.

He pointed to the era of the late General Sani Abacha, noting that it was the last time a sitting leader was accused of attempting to emerge as the only candidate in a national election.
