According to the Anadolu agency, on Friday Oct 10, 2025, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders has condemned the United States for tolerating what he termed a “slaughter” and has demanded that the tenuous truce between Israel and Hamas be maintained, stating that resuming hostilities will further prolong the misery in Gaza.
Women, children, and the elderly make up the majority of the wounded and dead among Gaza’s 10% population. ”
The United States has provided $22 billion in taxpayer funds to enable Netanyahu’s genocide,” Sanders wrote on X, the former Twitter. “The hostages must be released, aid must flow, and this terrible war must come to an end.
This ceasefire must be maintained.” Earlier this week, in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh on the Red Sea, the Vermont senator made some statements following a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
Part of President Trump’s 20-point plan, the arrangement was mediated by Qatar, Egypt, the US, and Türkiye. It demands that both sides stop fighting, that hostages and detainees be exchanged, that Hamas disarm, and that an international effort to restore Gaza be launched.
Nearly 67,000 Palestinians, primarily women and children, have been killed in the conflict that started in October 2023. Damage has leveled entire neighborhoods, hospitals have been demolished, and a large portion of Gaza is now without food, water, or medicine.
According to Hamas spokesperson Khalil al-Hayya, the party obtained “guarantees” that the pact will end the fighting, and Israel had approved the first step of the arrangement. Sanders sees the ceasefire as a moral need rather than merely a political truce.
He called on Washington to stop funding war and start supporting peace, being one of the most vocal critics of US policies toward Israel. His fervent demand that “this horrific war must end” resounded throughout the exhausted and devastated area. See, More, Here>>>>
