The PDP Wants to Dislodge Tinubu in 2027; If Wike Does Not Support That, He Is Not a PDP Member—Sani

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Umar Sani, has criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, saying some actions within the party undermine its mission to reclaim power in 2027.

Speaking on Trust TV’s Daily Politics, Sani said the PDP continues to face internal divisions, partly fueled by members who oppose the party fielding a presidential candidate in the next general election. He highlighted that reconciliation efforts led by the Board of Trustees committee, chaired by Ambassador Hassan Adamu, were aimed at resolving disputes between warring factions. However, Sani argued that some individuals set conditions that conflict with the party’s constitutional objectives, effectively weakening internal cohesion.

Sani insisted that loyalty to the PDP requires clear alignment with its mission to contest all elections, particularly the presidency. He said any member who does not support this goal cannot credibly claim allegiance to the party. According to him, the PDP must remain united and focused on its long-term strategy, even as disagreements arise over leadership and state-level primaries.

He noted that internal party disputes are normal but should not be used as a pretext to avoid electoral responsibility. Sani stressed that the party’s structures and reconciliation processes have been followed, and those undermining them are acting against the collective interests of the PDP. He emphasized that rebuilding unity requires discipline, commitment to party objectives, and transparency in political actions.

Sani concluded that members must openly support the PDP’s goal of challenging the ruling government rather than harboring conflicting personal ambitions.

In his words, “What we want him to do as a loyal PDP member, if he says he is a PDP member and he has not been expelled, is for him to say that in 2027 we are going to dislodge this government, because that is what the PDP wants to do. If he does not want that and he is not aligning with those things, then he is not a PDP member. He has no PDP in his mind.
