Speaking during an interview on Lyon Mack TV, Peter Obi, has spoken about his financial stewardship during his tenure as governor of Anambra State.

The former governor reflected on the resources and investments he said were left behind at the end of his administration, emphasizing his approach to prudent management and long-term planning.

According to him, “The day I left Anambra State as governor, I had in three banks: Access Bank — 12 billion naira and $50 million; Fidelity Bank — 12 billion naira and $50 million; and Diamond Bank, where your present governor, Alex Otti, was the managing director — 12 billion naira and $50 million. I also made other investments. Altogether, everything I left was cumulatively valued at half a billion dollars ($500 million).”

Obi explained that his administration focused on saving resources and investing in assets that could generate value for the state over time.

He noted that responsible financial management remains essential for sustainable development and continuity in governance.
