The 12-Day War Taught Us Lessons Equal To 12 Years – Iran’s Army Chief

According to a Monday 13 of October, 2025, report by IRNA News Agency, in a recent high-level meeting in Tehran, Major General Amir Hatami, a senior figure in Iran’s military leadership, revealed that the country has implemented new strategic measures in response to evolving regional threats. The changes stem from insights gained during the 12-day conflict imposed by Israel in June, and which Hatami described as a turning point for Iran’s defense doctrine.

“The 12-day war taught us lessons equal to 12 years,” Hatami stated during discussions with the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Parliament on Monday. He emphasized that these experiences have led to a comprehensive reassessment of military tactics aimed at confronting a wide range of potential threats.

Hatami also raised concerns about the shifting nature of global politics, arguing that brute force has increasingly replaced diplomacy on the world stage. “We are facing a world today in which some are trying to seize global dominance under the slogan of ‘peace through strength,’ which in reality means ruling the world by force,” he said. He warned that traditional diplomacy has grown “much weaker than before.”

The general highlighted Israel’s military actions across the region, particularly in Gaza, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, and Qatar, as clear examples of what he termed a “logic of coercion.” He reiterated the position of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, stressing that the only effective countermeasure is to build national strength. “The only way to overcome this logic is to become strong and powerful,” Hatami asserted.

Supporting this stance, Ebrahim Azizi, the head of Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, affirmed the legislature’s commitment to bolstering Iran’s defense capabilities. “All pillars of the Islamic system are obliged to make power generation their primary goal,” Azizi stated. He added that Parliament would back this objective through legislative measures and financial allocations.

The meeting underscored a unified approach among Iran’s military and political leadership to strengthen deterrence amid growing instability in the region. As tensions continue to rise, Iranian officials appear increasingly focused on military preparedness as a central pillar of national security policy. See, More, Here>>>>
