So Now Nigerians Must Defend the President?’ — Farotimi Responds to Lagos Gov’s Call After Trump’s Warning

Nigerian writer and human rights activist, Dele Farotimi has reacted to the statement that was made by the governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu after the President of the United State of America, Donald Trump threatened military action over allegations of Christian genocide in Nigeria.

The reaction of Dele Farotimi was contained in a post that he shared on his official X handle on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

In the report that was published on the official X handle of Vanguard, the Lagos state governor asked all Nigerians to unite and defend the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Here is what the Lagos state governor said;

“Let us go out there, be proud and defend this government. They are doing the right things”.

However, Dele Farotimi has now shared his thoughts after the report surfaced online. In a post that he shared on his official X handle, he spoke about the incident that happened at the Lekki tollgate in Lagos state.

Here is what Dele Farotimi wrote on his official X handle;

“Babajide Sanwo-Olu can go and awaken the citizens murdered under his watch on October 20, 2020. We will never forget and we shall write the history”.
