According to a report by Daily Post, on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, the prominent Nigerian film industry figure Yul Edochie has directed a series of sharp rebukes toward Arise Television personality Rufai Oseni in a video that has gained significant traction across various social media platforms.
Within the widely shared footage, the actor openly interrogated the ethical standing of Oseni, questioning how a broadcaster with a controversial public record could feel justified in aggressively scrutinising political figures and other guests on a prominent national stage.
Edochie specifically brought up a well-known past confrontation in Lagos where the media practitioner was allegedly apprehended for illegally utilising the dedicated Bus Rapid Transit lane.
Edochie rhetorically asked his audience if this was the same individual who had been caught violating traffic regulations.
He went on to describe the broadcaster’s initial reaction to the traffic enforcement officers as one characterised by arrogance rather than remorse.
According to the actor’s account, instead of acknowledging the transgression and offering a sincere apology at the moment of the infraction, the presenter reportedly chose to confront the officials by demanding they recognise his status and threatening to involve the executive governor of Lagos State in the matter.
The actor further contended that the journalist’s eventual public apology was not a result of genuine personal reflection but was rather a calculated move necessitated by the existence of incriminating visual evidence.
He argued that had there not been a recording of the event to hold him accountable, the broadcaster likely would never have expressed any regret for his actions.
Edochie emphasised that the presence of the video was the only reason the public witnessed any semblance of accountability from the Arise TV host, asking rhetorically what the outcome would have been if no one had captured the scene on camera.
Beyond the traffic incident, Edochie expanded his critique to encompass Oseni’s professional conduct during his television segments, accusing him of maintaining a habitually discourteous attitude toward those he interviews.
The actor expressed bewilderment at a style of hosting that seems designed to make invited guests feel uneasy or unwelcome.
He suggested that the fundamental duty of a professional interviewer is to ensure their guests are comfortable, and should any tension arise, the host ought to offer an apology to restore a respectful atmosphere.
He specifically took issue with instances where the broadcaster allegedly informed guests that they were welcome to leave the studio if they found his questioning or demeanour disagreeable.
In a scathing assessment of Oseni’s journalistic style, the actor labelled his confrontational methods as a departure from the true principles of media practice.
He asserted that hurling insults at individuals on a national broadcast does not constitute genuine journalism but rather reflects a deeply disrespectful personality.
While addressing the current political climate, Edochie also took a moment to express his firm support for the nation’s leadership.
He urged the public and media critics alike to show more patience and decorum when discussing the current administration.
He said, “Jagaban President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the President of Nigeria, whether you like it or not. He is our president; you must respect him.”
The actor concluded his message by reminding his audience that the head of state has only recently assumed his duties and needs a reasonable window of time to implement his vision for the country.
He noted that significant national transformations are not achieved overnight, using the classic adage that the city of Rome was not constructed in a single day to emphasise the need for patience…. Discover More
