RSHA: As Of Yesterday, They Were Insisting Fubara Should Show Them His Commissioner Nominees-Agomuo

Political Analyst and legal expert, Barrister Darlington Agomuo has said the latest defection of some members of the Rivers State House of Assembly (RSHA) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a clear indication that the political crisis in the state is far from resolved.

Speaking during an interview on Voice of the People TV, Agomuo dismissed the notion that the recent political realignments were mere routine party movements. According to him, the developments reflect a deeper struggle for control between the Assembly and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

He noted that despite public claims of reconciliation by political leaders, the situation on the ground shows otherwise. Agomuo disclosed that the Assembly’s latest demands demonstrate that tensions remain high and unresolved. “As of yesterday, they were insisting that Fubara should show them his Commissioner nominees which means there is still disagreement between them,” he said.

The insistence by the lawmakers on reviewing the governor’s list of commissioner nominees is seen by many observers as a direct challenge to Fubara’s authority. Analysts say it signals that the rift between both sides, rooted in last year’s bitter political confrontation continues to shape the state’s governance.

Agomuo argued that the growing wave of defections should be viewed as part of a broader political strategy driven by distrust and competing loyalties. He warned that unless both camps commit to genuine reconciliation, the state may experience further instability in its legislative-executive relations.
