There have been diverse reactions from the general public and particularly social media users after former Kaduna central senatorial district lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani made a striking comment regarding how the people react to conversations between foreign journalists and government officials. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that the happy were not always happy.
Following the controversies that trailed the recent conversation between Daniel Bwala, the senior special adviser on media and policy communications and Mehdi Hassan, a United Kingdom based journalist, Senator Shehu Sani had addressed the debacle.
According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle on Saturday March 7th 2026, the former Kaduna central senatorial district lawmaker made a striking comment regarding the heated confrontation and the accompanied reactions.
In his remarks, the widely admired former federal lawmaker pointed out that Nigerians were always happy when a foreign journalist grilled a government official, but became unhappy when a foreign ambassador was grilled by a Nigerian journalist.
This act of hypocrisy, according to Senator Shehu Sani sent a disturbing message across to the global community, as it indicates that the people accepted to be inferior.
“They are happy when a foreign journalist grilled a Nigerian government official. They are not happy when a Nigerian journalist grilled a foreign ambassador…..” He wrote.
