Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has raised concerns regarding the actions of Islamic scholar Abubakar Gumi and the Nigerian government’s lack of response, labeling the situation as alarming.
In a message he claims was inspired by God, Ayodele highlighted his worries about Gumi’s frequent public statements that have gone unanswered by officials. “Gumi keeps speaking without restraint while the government remains silent,” Ayodele noted.
He questioned the federal government’s continued neglect of Gumi’s comments, implying that this silence raises significant issues. He stated that the absence of an official reaction is unusual and merits attention. “Does the government have a connection with Gumi?” he queried.
Ayodele clarified that these inquiries are not merely personal sentiments but important matters he felt compelled to address. He emphasized that the situation is about more than personal comments; it pertains to accountability and transparency.
“These are questions God has instructed me to pose to the Nigerian government,” he remarked.
While he did not elaborate on the nature of the supposed relationship, he stressed that the government’s silence conveys a misleading message to the public. He argued that when someone makes repeated statements on sensitive matters without governmental response, it fosters suspicion and confusion.
Ayodele’s observations highlighted the discrepancy between Gumi’s ongoing remarks and the government’s persistent silence. He insisted that Nigerians deserve to know why there has been no reaction.
By framing his comments as inquiries rather than accusations, the primate aimed to spotlight an issue he believes should be addressed. He asserted that the government owes the public an explanation for the lack of response.
“Gumi keeps talking without regard,” Ayodele reiterated, emphasizing that such behavior typically warrants a response from the authorities.
He concluded by reaffirming that his questions were directed specifically at the Nigerian government and were based on divine instruction, leaving the resolution of the matter to the authorities.
