The special adviser on policy communication to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Daniel Bwala, has criticized the political prospects of Peter Obi, stating that the former Anambra State governor lacks the grassroots support needed to win a presidential election.

Speaking during an interview on News Central TV, Bwala argued that Obi’s popularity is largely driven by social media supporters, often referred to as the “Obidient” movement, rather than widespread on-the-ground political structures across the country.

He also alleged that Obi’s engagement with religious audiences contributed to shaping a narrative that the church was politically sidelined and needed to reclaim influence. According to Bwala, this approach does not translate into the kind of national support required to secure victory at the presidential level.
