In a recent interview shared by Arise News, Director, Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Sam Amadi, offered insight into the internal dynamics shaping Nigeria’s opposition politics, particularly within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Amadi highlighted the strategic positioning of key political figures as the party navigates its future. Speaking on the role of former Senate President Bukola Saraki, he made a striking assertion: “Saraki is there because he is playing dumb alongside Wike so they can have a stake in 2031.” The comment points to what he described as calculated silence and alignment among influential actors within the party.
He explained that the PDP is currently grappling with internal divisions, with different factions pursuing long-term political interests. According to him, some leaders are less focused on immediate electoral victories and more concerned about positioning themselves for future opportunities, particularly ahead of the 2031 political cycle.
