In a recent Facebook video, Primate Elijah Ayodele, the Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, expressed that the global attention his comments receive reflects his significant influence and relevance, adding that notable figures are subject to greater scrutiny than others.
During his remarks, Ayodele pointed out that although many pastors frequently share opinions on social media without repercussions, his statements often spark widespread reactions due to his prominence.
“I’m not sure you grasp this,” he stated. “Many pastors have their say online, yet if I speak out, it immediately grabs global attention.”
To illustrate his perspective, he mentioned a controversial Ghanaian preacher who predicted a specific end date for the world and began building an ark-like structure, which drew considerable attention. Ayodele suggested that if such a prediction were linked to him, the backlash would be even more severe.
“A man in Ghana claimed he wanted to construct a Noah’s ark,” he noted. “He asserted the world would end on the 25th and began the construction, attracting visitors.”
Ayodele asserted that if he were to make a similar forecast and subsequently change it, the backlash would be relentless. “If I said the world will end on the 25th and then revised that, I’d face harsh criticism,” he declared.
He pointed out that this double standard is part and parcel of being a public figure, highlighting the constant pressure they face. “I hope you see what I mean,” he added.
Positioning himself as a leader whose words hold significance, Ayodele concluded that criticism is an unavoidable aspect of his role. “This is why I consider myself a champion,” he stated. “Champions face different challenges, and people will always be focused on you.
