Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to the MInister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has taken to his official X account on Monday, January 19, 2026 to react to viral video of some Nigerians fetching diesel from a fallen tanker.
In the video that surfaced online, the tanker fell on a bridge and the people were seen fetching the diesel from under the bridge. Many of them were seen carrying different containers on their heads.
Reacting, Lere Olayinka condemned the act. . He said if anything happens to the people, they will blame it on either government or poverty. He urged the government to intervene and arrest those who partook in the act.
According to Lere Olayinka on his official X account;
“How can people be risking their lives like this? They will blame government, they will say it is poverty. Security agencies should step in now and arrest as many that they can arrest”.
