In a recent statement via his official X account, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has reacted strongly to the decision of Peter Obi and the Obidient movement to align with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition.
”Peter Obi said those in the Obidient movement who dare abuse the structure of criminality (who are now his brothers and leaders) are criminals. Fair enough.
Therefore, the Obidient movement that has decided to embrace the structure of criminality has now metamorphosed into what we should call the structure of obidient criminals. It is a fantastic fusion,” he wrote.
In his post, Keyamo referred to Obi’s past remarks where criminal behavior within political structures was criticized, he argued that Obi had once taken a firm position against political misconduct and abuse.
According to Keyamo, that stance appeared clear and uncompromising at the time, however, he claimed that the recent decision by Obi and his supporters to join the ADC coalition represents a major shift.
Keyamo suggested that the coalition includes political actors previously linked to the same political practices Obi had condemned, he argued that this development raises serious questions about consistency and moral clarity.
The minister stated that political movements should not abandon their core values for strategic advantage, he warned that embracing alliances without clear standards could weaken public trust.
He implied that political credibility is damaged when past principles are set aside for convenience.
