Ovie Success Ossai, the Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Media, has raised concerns regarding the prolonged public absence of Peter Obi following the outcome of the Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a post on his Facebook page on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, Ossai suggested that the former presidential candidate might be viewing the 2027 general elections as an insurmountable challenge given the perceived political momentum of President Bola Tinubu.
He wrote, “Peter Obi yet to speak publicly since after his defeat in FCT days ago. He is seeing 2027 as a no go area because President Tinubu is already a winner. What is happening to Peter Obi that he hasn’t been seen publicly because I am disappointed.”
The remarks follow the conclusion of the 2026 FCT Area Council elections, where the political atmosphere shifted dramatically in favor of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The APC secured a dominant victory by winning chairmanship seats in five out of the six area councils, including the Abuja Municipal Area Council.
In AMAC, the incumbent Christopher Zakka, popularly known as Maikalangu, retained his seat with 40,295 votes, comfortably defeating his closest rivals.
This electoral outcome proved particularly disappointing for the African Democratic Congress and its candidate, Dr. Moses Paul.
Despite receiving high-profile backing from Peter Obi and several ADC chieftains who had campaigned for a leadership change in the capital’s most central council, Dr. Paul finished a distant second with 12,109 votes.
Ossai expressed his disappointment at Obi’s silence during this period, noting that the political figure has not made a public appearance or formal statement since the results confirmed the APC’s sweeping success across the territory….. Discover More
