In a recent interview with ESET TV, President Bola Tinubu has expressed his full support for Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, despite public criticism over his actions in Abuja.
Tinubu described Wike as a “good man” and “performing minister” who is committed to restoring order in the capital.
According to Tinubu, the real issue lies in Nigerians’ lack of compliance with civic responsibilities, such as paying ground rents and adhering to urban development regulations.
Tinubu emphasized that Wike’s firm stance is necessary to correct years of neglect and lawlessness in the city.
He praised Wike, saying “I duff my hat for him”. This gesture underscores Tinubu’s confidence in Wike’s ability to implement policies that align with his administration’s goals.
However, some critics have accused Wike of overstepping his authority, particularly in land enforcement operations.
Comrade Timi Frank, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called for Wike’s removal, citing allegations of land grabbing and abuse of power.
