Hon. Adamu Aliyu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has acknowledged the political relevance of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in Kano State, stressing that the ruling party is taking his influence seriously.
Aliyu made this known during an interview on Channels Television, where he addressed the evolving political dynamics in Kano, a key battleground in Nigeria’s northern region.
Speaking on the strength of Kwankwaso and his political movement, Aliyu dismissed claims that the APC is underestimating the former Kano State governor. “Nobody is ignoring Kwankwaso in Kano and we are not ignoring him. We are wary of Kwankwaso, we know what he can do and we are also not sitting down,” he said.
The APC chieftain emphasized that the party recognizes Kwankwaso’s grassroots appeal and long-standing influence in Kano politics, particularly through his loyal support base. However, he maintained that the ruling party is actively strategizing to maintain its foothold in the state.
Kano remains one of Nigeria’s most politically significant states due to its large voter population and history of shaping electoral outcomes. Kwankwaso, who contested the 2023 presidential election, continues to command strong support in the region, making him a key figure in any political calculation ahead of future polls.
