According to a recent video by Brekete Family on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, Deborah Moses has recounted how a man she met on Facebook, Emmanuel Mike, allegedly stole her life savings and belongings after she trusted him with her home.

The incident occurred in September 2025 when Mike stayed overnight at her residence. The next morning, claiming his phone was dead, he borrowed hers. When she returned, he was gone, along with her phone, gas, clothes, and a savings box containing years of daily ₦3,000 deposits.

After a month of fruitless efforts involving the police, Deborah saw his wedding invitation online. She tracked him to St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Kakuri, Kaduna, where he was to wed. With police assistance, he was confronted.

Mike reportedly admitted to the theft, stating he had sold the items. A ₦1.7 million restitution agreement was brokered with his brother, but after a lawyer signed an undertaking for his release, he allegedly failed to pay. The Inspector in charge has now vowed to escalate the matter.

Her Words: “ He asked to use my phone because his phone was switched off. I gave him my phone and left. When I returned, he was gone. My phone, gas, clothes, and savings box were also gone.

I called my sister to inform her. After one month, I used my friend’s phone to log into my Facebook account and saw pre-wedding pictures with an invitation card. I took a screenshot.

When I did that, I went to the police station at Jere Division. They gave me two policemen. We went to Kaduna, Kakuri, to St. Andrew Catholic Church, where he wanted to have his wedding.
