The spokesperson of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Habibu Muhammed, said during an interview with an Arise TV correspondent that the defection of former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to the ADC would have significant impact on the party and the 2027 elections.
When he was reacting to the statement made by a Kano State political strategist and member of the ruling APC, Auwal Hassan, as the latter claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would easily defeat the opposition members as he once defeated them during the 2023 presidential election, Muhammed said that Hassan was wrong to have made such statement.
He said, “Let me actually address one thing that my brother has just said. He said that Asiwaju has defeated all the oppositions, but he should remember that the context has already changed. Remember they stood individually as at that time, and also representing different platforms, with a different mindset as at that particular point in time. Also, Asiwaju has lost a significant number of goodwill caused by the policies and other things which are viewed by Nigerians as punishment for putting him there.
“Now, all of them (oppositions) are under the same platform working together. 90% of their intentions has already changed from ensuring how I have to be there to thinking about how this thing is going to change.
