According to a recent video by Tall to B on Friday, February 13th, 2026, Veteran Nollywood actor Yomi Olorunloaye has stressed the importance of preserving African culture, saying religious affiliation should not erase cultural identity.
Speaking on religion and tradition, the actor said he studied both Christianity and Islam and respects traditional beliefs. According to him, embracing religion does not require abandoning one’s roots. “Look at the Igbos. No matter how deep they are in Christianity, they will never leave their culture,” he said, emphasizing that culture and faith can coexist.
Olorunloaye noted that many Africans misunderstand traditional practices, often labeling them as fetish. He argued that traditional values promote respect, discipline, and ethics, which remain relevant regardless of religious background.
Reflecting on his career and personal life, the actor, who began acting in church before going professional in 2003, highlighted perseverance as key to success. He also spoke about marriage, describing it as a journey that teaches maturity, responsibility, and wise financial management.
He encouraged young people to remain focused, determined, and prayerful while respecting their cultural heritage.
His Words: “ Look at the igbos, no matter how deep they are in christianity, they will never leave their Culture”.
