Kanu Insulted Buhari, It’s In The Open, He Called Him All Sort Of Names & He Have His Reasons-Fred Nzeako

Constitutional lawyer Fred Nzeako has argued that the offensive verbal comments made by the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, cannot be included or used as a major point by the court in determining its judgment on his case.

Speaking in an interview with Channels Television, he said that if Nnamdi Kanu had insulted the sitting judge presiding over his case or misbehaved in the courtroom, it would be considered contempt of court and could not be used as a substitute in a terrorism charge.

Nzeako pointed out that former President Muhammadu Buhari, in his view, turned a mere expression of thought into a criminal offense, which he described as a questionable decision.

He noted that Nnamdi Kanu was a strong critic of Buhari during his tenure, recalling that the IPOB leader heavily criticized him and his administration.

However, Nzeako maintained that merely insulting the president cannot be used as a basis for terrorism allegations, arguing that it is a civil offense and not a criminal one.

He said: “Nnamdi Kanu insulted Buhari, yes, it is in the open. He called him all sort of names and he has his reasons for calling him all sort of names. We criticize such calling of names because he was our President.

However, we have a law that if I insult you, you take me to court because it is a civil offense. It can’t be a crime that he insulted the President and the President now turned it to become terrorism.
