Just One Election In A Small City Like FCT, They Declared A Curfew-Momodu

According to a report by Daily Post on Friday, March 6, 2026, Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, is making determined efforts aimed at ensuring that President Bola Tinubu becomes the only candidate appearing on the ballot in the 2027 general elections.

Momodu made the claim during an interview on Arise Television on Thursday, where he discussed the current political environment in the country and the actions of the ruling party ahead of the next general elections.

The former presidential aspirant stated that the approach being taken by the APC suggests an attempt to limit political competition in the coming election cycle.

He maintained that such developments point to a political strategy designed to shape the electoral process in a way that would favour the ruling party’s candidate during the 2027 polls.

Momodu also addressed the strength of the APC within the political landscape, particularly the number of governors currently aligned with the party across various states in the country.

According to him, the presence of 31 governors within the ruling party does not represent a major advantage over the opposition political parties.

He explained that numerical dominance in terms of governors does not automatically translate to electoral victory when voters eventually go to the polls.

Momodu further stated that if a general election were conducted under present conditions, the ruling APC would lose the contest to opposition parties.

In the course of the interview, the Ovation Magazine publisher also criticized the manner in which the Federal Capital Territory Area Councils elections were conducted.
