According to a report by The Times of Israel, Israeli health authorities said that Sheba Medical Center has begun relocating patients and medical services to underground protected areas as military tensions escalate following strikes involving Israel and United States operations targeting Iran.
The hospital announced that it has entered advanced preparedness mode to ensure safety while maintaining medical operations. In a statement, Prof. Itai Pessach, Deputy Director General of Sheba Medical Center, said, “As of this morning, Sheba Medical Center has switched to advanced preparedness mode in preparation for the strike in Iran. We are in the process of moving all our Department of Services into protected areas.”
The hospital said the protective measures involve relocating patients, staff, and critical medical services to reinforced underground facilities designed to function during security emergencies. Hospital officials said emergency protocols were activated to safeguard patients and healthcare workers while maintaining treatment capacity.
Despite the security measures, Sheba Medical Center stressed that healthcare services will continue operating. Pessach added, “However, all the medical services continue as usual, and we provide the care needed for citizens and people here in Israel.” Hospital administrators said scheduled treatments, emergency care, and essential medical procedures will continue without disruption unless further security developments require adjustments.
The move comes as regional tensions remain high following reported military actions involving Israel and the United States against targets in Iran. Israeli authorities have not released detailed operational information regarding the strikes. Security officials across Israel have instructed civilian institutions, including medical facilities, to review emergency readiness procedures.
Sheba Medical Center is one of Israel’s largest medical institutions and a major referral hospital serving patients from across the country and internationally. The hospital has previously implemented similar protective measures during periods of military escalation in the region.
Officials said they will continue monitoring security developments and adjust hospital operations based on instructions from Israeli security agencies. Hospital management urged the public to remain calm while following safety directives issued by civil defense authorities…..See More
