Iran’s Atomic Chief Declared West’s Core Dispute With Tehran Was Not About Preventing Atomic Weapons

Amidst the ongoing international concerns over the nuclear ambition of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the leadership of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Iran’s nuclear Chief had declared that the West’s core dispute with Tehran was not about preventing atomic weapons, but about stifling the Islamic Republic’s rise as a scientific and technological power.

According to a report by the Iran News Agency on Thursday, 25 December, 2025, Mohammad Eslami, the Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran (AEOI) while addressing a gathering of the country’s top medical specialists, asserted that nuclear science was a primary driver of national progress and superiority, framing the decades-long confrontation as a struggle against Western monopoly over advanced knowledge, signaling a major rhetorical escalation in Iran’s longstanding nuclear narrative.

He also painted Iran’s nuclear advancement as an undeniable national duty, and a source of sovereign power, achieved despite intense international pressure, crediting the country’s progress to the efforts of young scientists and the steadfast guidance of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, emphasizing that the pursuit of nuclear technology remains a constant state policy regardless of changes in administration, further underscoring the deep institutional commitment to mastering nuclear sciences, progress-driving, superiority-creating and power-enhancing.

In his words, Mohammed Eslami said “Iran is duty-bound to move at the frontiers of knowledge, nuclear sciences and technologies is progress-driving, superiority-creating and power-enhancing fields that have long been monopolized by major powers. The real problem they have with us is our presence at this level and in this arena. Greater synergy among specialists would help reduce public suffering and accelerate progress in healthcare. Iran had reached its current level regardless of their dictates and monopolies. Administrations come and go with different policies, but this goal-setting remains constant.”

The Iranian Nuclear Chief, Mohammed Eslami went further to point to recent events as proof of the pretextual nature of Western accusations, highlighting a United Nations Security Council meeting, the true objective of Britain, France, and Germany was revealed in order to halt Iran’s progress, at the same time, citing Israel’s missile attack on a facility in Isfahan, which targeted a radiopharmaceutical fuel production plant, referring to the recent American, and Israeli airstrikes targeting the three peaceful nuclear facilities of Iran in order to ensure that Tehran did not obtained a nuclear weapon.

He also referenced a recent U.S. national security document that identified artificial intelligence, quantum technology, and nuclear science as pillars of progress, stating “If these are necessary for the US, they must be for other countries as well,” further positioning Iran’s nuclear program as a legitimate, and essential endeavor for any nation seeking sovereignty and development in the 21st century.
