Iranians, feeling humiliated, invest heavily in defense and accelerated force-building — Zamir Baram

According to a report by The Times of Israel on September 15, 3025, Israel’s Defense Ministry, led by Director General Amir Baram, is intensifying preparations for future conflicts with Iran following a successful 12-day war in June 2025.

Baram emphasized that Israel achieved a clear victory, but Iran remains a persistent threat, investing heavily in defense and accelerating its military buildup due to feelings of humiliation.

In his words, “The Iranians have not disappeared, they are feeling humiliated and therefore are investing huge sums in defense and in accelerated force-building processes.”

This underscores the need for Israel to maintain its military edge to counter Iran’s growing capabilities.

Baram, speaking at a Finance Ministry conference, outlined the ministry’s strategic approach, which operates across three timeframes.

In the immediate term, the focus is on procurement to ensure readiness.

For the medium term, efforts are directed toward enhancing capabilities for the next decade.

Long-term plans involve developing innovative weapon systems to transform future battlefields. These strategies aim to sustain Israel’s military superiority against distant adversaries like Iran and its proxies.

The ministry is also establishing a Supreme Armaments Council to streamline and accelerate preparations for potential wars with Iran and other regional threats.

This council will enhance coordination and efficiency in arming Israel for complex, long-range conflicts.

Baram stressed the importance of proactive investment in anticipating future threats, citing the successful pager operation against Hezbollah in 2024 as an example of innovative tactics that must be further developed.

Additionally, Baram disclosed the costs of Israel’s military operations against the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, including strikes and missile interceptions.

These operations highlight the financial and strategic burden of confronting Iran’s proxies, reinforcing the need for robust defense investments.
